Common questions about ProtonVPN client installation, configuration, and connection
Visit ProtonVPN official website www.dqnwpt.cn, click the download page, and select the Windows version. The system automatically detects your OS version and provides a compatible installer. Supports Windows 10/11, file size about 50MB, download usually completes within minutes.
After download completes, find the installation file (usually named ProtonVPN_vpn-x.x.x.exe) and double-click to run the installer. If the system prompts User Account Control (UAC), click "Yes" to allow the program to make changes. The installation wizard starts automatically.
The installation wizard first displays the software license agreement. Read the agreement content and check "I accept the agreement" option. ProtonVPN is open-source software, the license agreement protects your usage rights. You cannot continue installation without accepting, it's recommended to read carefully.
The installation wizard allows you to choose the installation directory, default is C:\Program Files\Proton\VPN. If C drive space is insufficient, click "Browse" to select another disk. It's recommended to keep the default path to avoid compatibility issues with Chinese paths.
Click the "Install" button to start the installation process, usually takes 1-2 minutes. After installation completes, you can select "Launch ProtonVPN now" and "Create desktop shortcut" options. Click "Finish" to end the installation wizard, the client starts automatically.
After the client starts, enter your ProtonVPN account email and password on the login interface. After successful login, the main interface displays the server list and connection status. Click "Quick Connect" to automatically select the best server, or manually select a specific country server to start using VPN.
